Moviola -
The South and West's Rural Multiplex - is a partnership of 58 local halls and a central management team which works to bring
quality cinema to all parts of Dorset, and over the border to East
Devon, South Somerset and West Hampshire.
We've been showing films under the Moviola banner
(and using our unique partnership system) since December 2000 but before that
time we organised film festivals and showed films using the film society model.
Though we now operate commercial public shows which do not require a membership,
we are still members of the British Federation of Film Societies and work
closely with its South West England Group.
We love movies. We love showing films to
audiences. We love the experience of enjoying a film in a group atmosphere
and seeing the movie on the big screen, with all the detail for which it was
designed. We love providing a chance for people to get out of their houses
and meet together for a shared activity.
Films range from brand new mainstream releases to a
selection of new foreign language films and the occasional classic. They
are presented using high quality Digital Light Projection onto a large screen
with stereophonic sound. Most shows also feature short films shown before
an interval when refreshments and a bar may be available. Some of these shorts
are made locally and
provide a unique opportunity for young film-makers to have their work shown on
the big screen in front of an audience.
The experience of walking to your nearby hall to
enjoy a film with other members of your community is something very special.
No worries about travel or parking or security - this is quality entertainment
where you live. And the relatively low cost of a superb
evening's entertainment means that it is truly available to everyone.
